The ProxMat pressure sensitive floor mat eliminates unattended and
authorized workstations by automatically locking the PC when the
user walks away. Position the ProxMat in front of the workstation or
kiosk where the user normally stands or sits. The pressure sensitive
ProxMat detects the user, when they step off the ProxMat the
workstation is secured without the need of any user involvement.
The ComputerProx line of post authentication products are the only
effective means of insuring compliance by eliminating reliance on
the user. By automating the locking process the ProxMat enforces
your company computer policies.
ProxMat
uses ComputerProx's unique KIT (Keyboard Interface Technology) that
allows the ProxMat to send commands via the USB interface directly
to the computer. KIT makes it simple by essentially turning the
ProxMat into a preprogrammed USB keyboard. For example, under
Windows XP ProxMat can send the CTL-ALT-DEL sequence when the user
approaches the PC. This readies the PC for password entry. When the
user steps off the mat, it sends the Windows Key + L key sequence
thus locking the system.
When it comes to locking the unattended computer there are few choices. Most administrators are forced to either rely on the user to manually lock the computer or on inactivity timeouts. Both of these methods are generally undesirable and unreliable. Users often forget to lock the computer while leaving. Time-outs are often set too long thus creating a security risk; time-outs set too short become a nuisance to the user.
Automated Locking with ProxMat
The ProxMat sensor now locks the unattended computer automatically!
The ProxMat incorporates sophisticated pressure sensing technology to detect
the presence of the user. When the user leaves the mat, the ProxMat sends the keystrokes to lock the system. These would be
the same keys the user should have hit prior to leaving the system.
Easy Installation...No Special Drivers!
Installation of the ProxMat is a snap! Since the ProxMat attaches to
the computer as a USB keyboard, no custom drivers are required.
Configuration is a Breeze
All configuration of the ProxMat is done through the supplied
configuration utility. Programming of the keystroke sequences,
timeouts and other options are easy to modify and stored in the
onboard non-volatile memory.
Saves Energy Too
With ProxMat, computers can be put into stand-by
mode immediately upon the users departure. No more unattended
